I am looking to upgrade my mother's mid-2009 macbook pro for Christmas, as she has been complaining about how slow her computer is for quite some time now. I know the only upgradeable components are RAM and hard drive, and I was wondering what you tech experts out there would recommend I buy? I'm on a fairly tight budget, as I don't really want to spend more than $150 at most for the upgrades. I was thinking of getting a 250 or 256gb ssd, but is that enough, or should I also upgrade the RAM too? Any advice is greatly appreciated, as I am a tech novice. Thanks!

Specs:
13-inch Macbook pro (Mid-2009)
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (Upgradeable to 8 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
160GB Sata Drive

upgrade the ram because if the onboard video does not have it's own ram then it is using part of the main system ram.

see how full her hard drive? what anti-virus & cleaner programs are on that laptop?
