Upgrading my gaming laptop with some ram and ssd

Hello everyone!
I want to upgrade my gaming laptop with 16 gb of ram and 256/500 gb ssd. The question that bothers me, is there capabilities to fit and works or smth like this? My laptop is msi gt72 2qd dominator https/www.msi.com/Laptop/GT72-2QD-Dominator.html#hero-specification
I have Intel 5700, Nvidia gtx970m, Windows 10(idk why it says 8) and 16gb of ram.
I want to install my windows on the ssd so it can work faster. One more question, is it bad idea to upgrade it myself with some Youtube video and guides?
Sry if that's not the right place to ask, I'm just new.

I checked in german amazon and it says Crucial 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM for mac. will it work even if its for mac?
