Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 with the AMD A10 4600M APU. The GPU is the Radeon HD 7660G with 512mb Dedicated VRAM and up to 2.9 GB of shared RAM. I still have the stock RAM from Toshiba and am going to upgrade to 16GB of Corsair Vengeance Performance RAM 1600mhz with a 10-10-10-27 latency. Anyone know just how much of a performance increase I'll see if any at all?

Solution
You definitely do not need 16GB of RAM. The Radeon HD 7660G will not be able to effectively use more than 1GB of total RAM because it is simply not powerful enough to use much more. Also for 1600x900 more than 1GB of RAM is not necessary.

Installing lower latency RAM will not make much of a difference at all. You will need to run benchmarks to see the difference. However, installing faster RAM can improve performance; like DDR3-2133 RAM. But the laptop must be able to support RAM beyond DDR3-1600 which most do not from my understanding.

You will not gain anything for gaming, the only thing I can say if you have two identical sticks of 4GB then you will gain a little from dual channel but only benchmarks will tell the difference.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I will get 2x4GB sticks, most likely Corsair, since 16GB would be an overkill you just saved me about $80. And I already knew I couldn't put in faster RAM as this MOBO won't support/recognize it. Thanks again for your help.
