USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter question

My ISP just recently tripled our download speed for free to 300Mbps. Turns out my laptop only has a Fast Ethernet NIC. I am considering a USB 3.0 Gigabit adapter as I do have 3.0 on my laptop (Which makes me wonder why I only have a Fast E NIC)

My question is for those how have used or tested such devices, how well do they work in real life testing and use? I don't care if they can't maintain a full gigabit, just want to know if they can do better than the 100Mbit NIC I currently have.

I know I don't need this extra speed, and that having this much bandwidth is unnecessary, that it can support all the devices in my home, etc. I'm just looking for opinions and real world results to weigh my options.

They work well . be sure they support Wake up on lan .

and if you have only one USB3 , some come with USB3 hubs as well.

and if you want to network the notebook some adapters also have 2xGbit LAN ..
