Is there a model of Pocket PC that has a USB port? Not for syncing, but for
use with things like flash drives and other USB devices that can be used with
a regular PC USB port.

Not certain, but I seem to recall hearing that there is an adapater
that's available that plugs into the CF slot. Don't hold me to that though.

The toshiba series had usb host capabilities... however, there were
almost no ppc usb drivers, so it was of little use beyond keyboards and
serial ports

With the appropriate drivers the Toshiba E800 will support a mouse (
MPointer), hard drives and some USB memory dongles (Ratoc). It will also
support some Bluetooth dongles with the Toshiba 5.01 Bluetooth drivers.

"Is there a model of Pocket PC that has a USB port?"

Acer PDAs do, although they do not strictly have 'onboard' USB,
rather they provide it via the PDA cradle (new N50 Premium)
or sync cable (other Acer models).
Also, the manuals make specific reference to the expansion possibilities
provided by adding Thumb/Flash drives, so these are definitely supported.

I have also seen talk in Google Groups of people plugging standard computer
keyboards into the USB port of their Acer PDA and it working no probs.

The real question I want to know is if they support USB hubs? But I suppose
this is just a bit too much to ask for of a PDA - Or is it ???
:)

The Toshiba E800 supports a USB hub. We have used a powered one to test
various other devices. It appears you can have more than one device
connected at the same time using the same driver. I don't know about the
Acer but I would assume it would be similar.

The ASUS A730 series has USB host functionality with a cable supplied with
the product. Flash drives work directly, self powered USB hard drives also
work. I haven't tried a hub yet.
