Solved! usb mouse not working

I have Windows 7. I plugged in my wired mouse and it lights up, but it doesn't control the little arrow on the screen. I did right click and it opened a little menu. Any suggestions to get it to move the arrow on the screen? Thanks!

Last time this happened to me, I found a tiny cat's hair under the glowing light under the mouse.

No cat here. Just purchased the mouse and plugged it in and it didn't work.

If that lit up area on the base is clear, go into Control Panel>Mouse and see if there are any settings you can change.

Then in Control Panel, go into Device Manager and find the mouse. Right click on it and go to Properties then click on Update Driver.

Hopefully you might get a driver that Windows can work with properly.

It's not showing up. Under mice it has HID-compliant mouse three times. I think that's the wireless mouse that I don't want to use.

Best to disable that wireless mouse and your choice should take over.
