USB not recognized

My television is not recognizing the files (movies) that I have in my USB. It keeps on telling me to insert a different USB. Tried various USBs but with no luck. Can anyone help please?

my sony will not pick up my usb on ntfs , i can't tell you off hand because my usb is not in my pc but when i did formatted the disk it was i think exfat {spell some thing like that} not the fat32 {but you can try} once i formatted i was able to load mp4 movies and my tv sony pick it right up.
