USB speed fluctuating

Thinkpad x240, Windows 10. Kingston DataTraveler 100 G2 connected to USB port marked SS.

Speed fluctuates between 8MB/sec and 14MB/sec without anything happening or special load on the system, any idea why this is happening?

Any program you have on the computer that is 'open' at the time can cause this. As can any programs that are set up to auto load when the computer starts. Plus, the USB drive itself could be the cause or even the file/files on it.

It also depends what you are copying - single gigabyte file will copy mych faster than thousand megabyte files.

Yes this is during single big file copy. Looking at resource monitor while copying I cannot find anything putting extra load on the system there. Also it fluctuates between only two values, ~8MB/sec and ~14MB/sec and nothing in between.
