Used lenovo t400 supervisor password reset

Bought a used thinkpad T400 from the bay.
It has the BIOS supervisor password set and the seller doesn't know it.

Trying to decide if I should send it back or keep it.
The seller never indicated the BIOS supervisor password was set.

Shipping cost is a pain, but this machine is limited with the BIOS locked!

Looks like you have to solder a few wired on the bios chip to extract the password, yech!

Not sure what to do.

Thanks for poiting that out. My understanding was that questions about password resets can't be answered here. I am pretty new to Forums and maybe I might have misunderstood something. My apologies.

There's a big difference in helping someone crack/bypass passwords, and pointing them to the manufacturer.

As we cannot verify the owner of the PC, we are very cautious about helping people break thru password protection. The standard answer for BIOS passwords, is probably just point them to the manufacturer.
