Using earbuds while using computer mic?

My earbud's built in microphone broke and now I can not use the headphones while in a skype call. My computer has it's own mic, so my question is can I use my headphones while using my computers mic?

It depends on your computer, my has a 3.5 audio port for sound and another one for mic.

My computer only has one audio port, which is occupied by the earbuds with the broken mic

Well you can't plug the ear buds in then. However I think that might be adapters out there that split the 3.5 port into audio and mic. Or you call could get a cheap external sound card, they have adapters for that.
