Using my laptop for a monitor from the cable box

I was curious, is there a way to utilize the side HDMI port on my laptop and connecting to the cable box in order to just utilize the screen for my cable TV?

the hdmi on the laptop is an output (to connect the laptop to a tv) not an input.
