Hi everyone! I have an old DAV-TZ210 DVD Home Theater System that i want to use as speakers for my KLV-40R352D Sony TV.

thing is... the home theater system's HDMI port is an HDMI OUT only and can only input RCA. The TV on the other hand has a 3mm port as an audio output.

My question is would buying a '3.5mm to 2RCA' cable make the theater system as the speakers for my TV? If so, would is utilize the 5.1 channels?

I share your frustration with out-dated equipment! I had a nice A/V surround receiver. Then along came HDMI. I was surprised by some of the deals at my local pawn shop on TVs and audio equipment. If you're on a budget, this may be a great option for an A/V surround receiver and a used TV. Pay your local shops a visit. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the advice! Will definitely look around local shops for A/V surround systems. Specifically ones that supports HDMI ARC. As most appliances use HDMI nowadays...
