Cingular Newbie--Warning this is a long post:
Just ordered Cingular online. Verizon let me out of my contract because I
was able to demonstrate that service was not good enough near my new
residence. (the only place on Maui that has bad Verizon service!!)
Cingular was able to port the phones the day I got them via Fedex. However,
customer service was spotty. The tech fisrt said it would take a week to
port the phones-- I freaked out and said that was a deal-killer. I had to
call back so many times. Finally they got me to the right people and it was
taken care of. Basically I had to be on them from the beginning. Also, my
online order was "lost" like 3 seperate times. (The online account data is
totally wrong and wierd and doesnt work properly) My plan was wrong also and
that had to be "updated" (charging me for two seperate lines of service
instead of what I wanted: family talk with two lines of service) Had to keep
calling back over and over to get it right. The West coast call center is
WAY better than the one in Louisiana. Anyway, so far so good-- the service
seems to work OK. I am used to Verizon's great service here in Hawaii (being
able to keep calls even in elevators and underground parking structures) But
the GSM is working ok over here.
My Question:
On Motorola's site (www.hellomoto.com) it says that a data cable is required
to use MPT with the
V551.(http
/motorola.handango.com/entertainment/Home.jsp?siteId=522 Select
Cingular; then Motorola V551)
So what is the deal with that?
Anyway, having said that, is there anyway to sync contacts (i.e. phone
numbers and names) using Bluetooth and MPT or other 3rd party software? (BT
is working between my phone and laptop)
I'll buy the stupid cable if I have to, it just seems stupid not to be able
to sync and use MPT with BT.
Lastly, what is the purpose of "unlocking" a phone?
I live on Maui and live near a T-Mobile tower and am able to use that
network island and state-wide.
