v60s voice feedback, please?

I used my wife's v265 today and remembered how much I liked being able to
hear my voice through the earpiece on every other phone I've had (except my
current v60s). Makes it feel and sound (to me) more like a "real" phone.

IIRC, her old v60i was enabled for "voice feedback" too.

Why not the v60s? If it's because of the speakerphone, surely it could have
been set up so "voice feedback" is disabled when the speakerphone's on?????

Is there anything I can do to "enable" this? Maybe there's an "analog
switch" (menu option) in the software somewhere?

I don't know, but the term for what you have been calling "voice
feedback" is 'sidetone'.

Maybe that will help you in your search.

As someone already mentioned, you mean "sidetone" where you can hear
yourself as you talk. This is normal for a landline phone, but not for
a cell phone. In fact, this is the first I've heard of any cell phone
having sidetone. In fact, you would probably NOT want sidetone because
it could lead to an annoying echo!

So to answer your question, I don't think the v60s has this "feature".
My v120c and v120e which preceeded my v60s didn't have this either.
Neither did my analog cell phones I had prior to going digital.

By the way, now that I know it's called "sidetone", I did a search on it on
howardforums and a couple of other cell info sites. It's the subject of a
helluva lot of discussion. People apparently love it or hate it.

One guy posted that it was absolutely a deal-killer for him. He feels that
the lack of sidetone in a lot of phones is the cause of a lot of people
yelling into their cell phones. I actually tend to agree with him.

Make a call with a v60s, then call the same person with a v265. See which
feels more natural.

BillRadio, are you here? You posted a response to one of the posts.....do I
have to get a different phone?

I agree with you too. At first I was yelling into the cell phone, but
after I got used to the lack of sidetone it didn't bother me as much
and I started to talk normal (unless the other person can't hear me,
then I speak up)

i used to own a v60i and i now have a v60s. love the speakerphone. i did
noticed that on a v60i i could hear my own voice and i cant on a v60s. a
little getting used to, but i love my v60s.
