100% of data breaches are avoidable. Just don't store the data in the first place. Even with an air gap, some disgruntled employee armed with a flash drive can make off with some data.

So what their saying is that 97% of the companies don't prioritize security as high as they should. Awesome when 99% of them seem to want to roll out the cloud regardless - and that with YOUR data in it!

title:-Verizon: 97% of 2011 Data Breaches Were Avoidable
subtitle:-Most of the breaches in 2012 could have been prevented, reports Verizon.
main:-A report issued by Verizon Communications (pdf) claims that 97-percent of data breaches in 2011

make up your mind!!!

I'd like to know what percentage of breaches are never discovered. At most companies I've worked at unless there was damage done there is no way they would know they were hacked. Of course those companies also didn't store any truly sensitive data (e.g. credit card numbers).

92-percent of the beach incidents were discovered by third parties,

Type breach ten times fast! Yep the extensive use of the word breach got you there. Now is that still called a tongue twister or is it a typing twister or finger twister. Or maybe it should've read, "Three beach parties were discovered creating 92% of incidents"? Okay, I'm ready for a breach vacation.

Seriously a lot of repetitive wording that could have been summed up in two paragraphs instead of 80 pages. Must have got payed by the page.
