I have a verizon galaxy that was gave to me but I have a att chip how do I unlock the phone for any carrier

Do you know which model number it is? Depending on the model, some phone manufacturers will determine whether or not their phone are transferrable to services by default or if they've developed a specific line JUST for that service provider.
