Hello, I recently had my first experience with a virus. It started suddenly when I was watching YouTube in fullscreen and was unable to move the mouse our escape fullscreen. I decided to reboot the computer and when it came back online I was unable to open any applications. At this point I had suspicion that this was a virus so I followed a couple of guides for malware removal with little success while in safe mode. Eventually I came across a particular guide that seemed to be getting somewhere in terms of detecting and removing the virus. When I was nearing the end of the guide, one of the programs calling for a reboot, I rebooted to discover I can't connect to the internet. I use a desktop with windows 7 and a usb Wi-Fi adapter, and I'm not sure where to go from here. I've searched for cases similar and experimented but nothing seems to work. I'm a high school student and this computer is my lifeline, so any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

what site was guide at? what did you download? sound like you might have install a malware.

what the make and model of the computer? if it new enough, you could do system recovery

Also,I tried a system restore to before the virus and had the same problems
