VLC Player Does Not Play Any File

It seems that the default or other modified settings that your instance of VLC Player had are completely messed up. If you start reversing the process and try to undo each setting that you modified, it would take you ages to revert the settings back. If, by any chance, you skip anything, you might also end up having nothing but the other settings messed up, hence making your VLC Player experience even worse.

The program has several settings that are visible under the ‘Preferences’ box when it is set to display the simple settings, and other thousands of them when in advanced mode. Considering all these consequences and challenges that users might face when the settings are completely messed up, the VLC Player developers have added a rescue button using which you can set/revert the settings back to the default in a single go.

Although the button reverts the settings back to the default almost instantaneously, you should use it as a last resort when you are sure that no other option would work. The reason behind this suggestion is that while using the VLC Player, you might have set several configurations in the software as per your individual preferences, and it would have taken a while to do so. If you revert all the settings back to default, you will lose every modified configuration and you need to reconfigure the program right from the scratch.

By following the instructions given in this tutorial, you will be able to set the VLC Player settings back to default instantaneously.

Here’s what you need to do:

■Log on to the computer using the account in which you are experiencing the problem while using the VLC Player.

■Initialize the VLC Player by double-clicking its icon, or by opening any audio or video file in the application.

■Once opened, go to the Tools menu from the menu bar.

■From the displayed list, go to Preferences.

■On the displayed confirmation box, click OK to continue.

■Once done, close the VLC Player program to allow the changes to take effect.

■Open any video or audio file the VLC Player to verify the modified settings.

■If the problem persists, restart your computer and then try again.
