Vostro 1520 bleeps 3 times but screen stays black

Hi we are having a problem with our vostro 1520 lapton it as been working fine but all of a sudden the screen stays black when we turn it on and it makes a bleeping noise it loads up ok but screen stays black help please.

it looks like it could be a motherboard or chipset issue.
