watching regular tv without hdmi cord

I just bought a tv that came with an hdmi cord, but I don't have anything to connect the other end to, other than a DVD player but it is not hdmi compatible. How do I watch regular tv? I have attached an hd antenna but I'm unable to watch tv like I was on my old tv.

Help needed.

You need to tune the channels. I am assuming it has a built in digital tuner.

If the TV has an over the air tuner then after attaching the HD antenna you have to run a channel scan so the TV can detect which channels you receiver. TV won't tune in any channels until you have done this.
