I just replaced the DMD chip in my DLP TV. It fixed the problem with the white spots, but now I have a solid black bar running (mostly) horizontally across the screen. It's a couple inches wide and runs across the entire screen.
Obviously, something happened while I was replacing the DMD chip in the light engine. So, the question becomes, "What did I muck up in the process?"
I didn't force any connectors, and I was grounded during the entire operation. Help!!
On a side note, I saw online that the same problem was caused by a bad ribbon cable connection on a completely different kind of TV (LCD I think). There is a ribbon cable on the light engine I saw when I was replacing the DMD chip, but I didn't disconnect it and it *looks* properly seated.
