[citation][nom]azetec[/nom]You should all do a reality check and see that companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, Nokia and Motorola are in telecommunication business and some of them producing mobile phones since 1981. From 1981 till 2007 all these companies have produced hundreds of mobile phones models and have sold billions of units worldwide before y.[/citation]

[citation][nom]pacioli[/nom]The LG KE850 Prada from 2006 looks a lot like an iphone... before the iphone...http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-model [...] del/361234[/citation]

The LG Prada looks like the iPhone, but it had horrible software that didn't really utilize the touchscreen properly. It was basically a dumb phone with a touchscreen and an insane price tag.

People can argue all they want, but there simply were no multitouch smartphones before the iPhone.

Those pictures are doctored idiot. I guess you've never seen those in real life, so you wouldn't know.

The interesting thing is how the industry reacted to the iPhone:

Google: Aborted launch of original design, came out >1 year later with competitive product, result = large smartphone marketshare.

Blackberry: slow to react, took several iterations of products to make competitive products, customers lost faith, couldn't shake "business phone" view by customers, result = moderate but shrinking marketshare.

Microsoft: mocked iPhone originally, slow to start development, slow to finish development, released competitive product very late to market, result = puny marketshare but might grow.

Wow. Most pathetic post I've seen yet. Delusional kids are rampant on this site!

Get yourself admitted to the nearest mental health facility, ASAP!

[citation][nom]molo9000[/nom]Makes you wonder if the modern smartphone would have existed without the iPhone.[/citation]
Nokia's phones really look like they were the basis for the modern smartphone, not the iPhone

Okay, sorry about the idiot part, that was too rude. However, the point remains.

Riiiiiight, someone didnt read the posts about the LG above. If they had they would realise that of the 15 *trademark* points for the iPhone, 11 of them could be said to have existed on the Prada, which was apparently released before the iPhone. Some mention colours as if noone else is allowed to have a black device, or nobody else is allowed to make phone with colour displays.
As pointed out, Apple were not the first with a touchscreen phone, shock horror they werent even the first with a black with silver edge touchscreen phone, so please behave iFanboys.

I am not an Apple fanboy, but you Apple haters have to admit that, all the smart phones these days follow iPhone one way or another, if not copy

I use an Android phone and I have four Windows PC. I don't own a single Apple product. However, I've had to support both PCs and Macintosh's for the last 20 years, and I know the history from both sides of the aisle. Apple innovates more than any other company, and if they don't explicitly invent something, they do something much more important - the make technology work properly so that people want it.

And after Apple proves that their designs make for a successful product, other companies come in and copy it. Apple didn't invent the cell phone, but the first iPhone set the template for the future of cell phone design.

But all of these idiots (like wind82) saying that Apple copied the Pocket PC and the Palm ... Does anyone remember the Newton? Does anyone else remember that the term 'PDA' was created at Apple?

... i do imagine, how google haz gone back to the drawing boards after they witnessed the birth of iPhone... i do belive, that google copied iPhone, but enhanced it by the information, that google got from search, like: hardware keyboard... google, after the introduction of original iPhone, don't needed any R'n'D to put in the google first phone... they just copied the iPhone and added some things, that google waz seeing in the search for the features, that iPhone users are missing, like: storage expansion, hardware keyboards and so on...

There were M$ tablets before the iPad, there were smart phones before the iPhone, there were MP3 players before the iPod (in fact, Apple lost several law suits related to this because their first MP3 players were practically identical to the ones already in the market made by other companies), the list goes on. Apple didn't invent or even innovate the market anymore than others; they simply made it trendy, so more people would look at the market.

Sure, Apple has made some innovations, but most of the innovations are not Apple; Apple simply copies others and makes them white (a slight over-exaggeration there, but it's pretty darn close). Apple is excellent at selling things that are similar to other company's products and I'll never doubt their selling power.

[citation][nom]AAPL_GOOD_GUYS[/nom]Nice! Google had to steal Apple's intellectual property and pawn it off as its own in order to compete! Oh, and Oracle's, too!Google cannot compete on its own and has to shamelessly steal from everyone. Really pathetic.Go Apple! Go good guys! Keep suing these clowns until they quit stealing![/citation]
You're talking like Apple never stole anything. You know, like the GUI or the Dock.
