what antivirus have you had the best experience with

Hi everybody

I am looking to install an antivirus after removing mcaffe cause its pissing me off with the popups.
If anyone good give some recommendations on what (free) antivirus they have used and enjoyed that would be great.

I use a combination of Bitdefender and AVG - both programs work great.

W10 own thing (Security Essentials back in W7) + Malwarebytes has done my family (8-10 devices, two owned by click-happy teens) great service for several years now.

Malwarebytes to back up the poor bits of SE seems to work really well, I've had zero trouble at home. Ironic as I have to deploy Sophos Enterprise Security at work which has been a pita...

I would use Bit Defender or kaspersky. Both are excellent, the best free antivirus programs in my opinion.

Personally i just use common sense and windows defender I haven't had a virus in years.

Avast. It's quick, not a resource hog, and is quiet and unintrusive.

I used to like AVG, but it keeps trying to install all this other crap now, and the pop-ups were getting on my nerves.

I use avira, which i believe has a higher detection rate than avast, and superantispyware

I have used, Avg, Avast and Avira, all excellent, at the time i'd say Avira was superior however the other two have good manual updating for computer without internet connection, avira's did have such a service but it was intermittent due manual update service not being available regularly and was complicated for novice users. Recently spyware terminator free online protection has quiet good according to the youtube videos i have seen, so this coupled with free avast and the like should provide excellent free protection.

Recently im using Kaspersky, which has excellent track record, 2 way firewall that unmatched in my opinion, its an excellent security software with probably no equal freeware alternative however its full scanning is terribly slow to the point of becoming annoying. Avast and Avg were quick on full scan and lighter on resources. Avira scanning is faster than kapsersky as well the last time i used it, which is some while back.
