What Company makes the best built laptop for the price range of 700 or less

I am interested to see what others have to say. What company makes the best built laptop that is made to last a long time. Something that ISN'T APPLE I know they build their computers well but I refuse to spend the money. Lenovo ThinkPad laptops have sparked my interest for their old school look and reliable build and all things considered they would be a great laptop to look up things and just perform your computer needs. I ask this because I purchased a Sony Vaio laptop (E series) and its a piece of crap and I am ashamed to have purchased a Sony computer and I'll never buy anything made by Sony ever again. Please let me know what you think I think Hp is decent, Acer and ASUS are amazing, lenovo looks good but i'm not sure and Dell is hit and miss.

I think Asus is good quality. I think Dells are too, depending on what line you buy, and if you can get them on sale.
