Solved! What do i do if my microphone and speakers wont work on my laptop

Hello,
i recently whipped out my laptop and re-did everything and before that i would video chat with friends and my mic and speakers would work but now they don't. is there anyway i can get them back to working without having to replace them ?

what is meant by "re-did everything"?

do you have any sound at all while running windows? if not, your sound card drivers are not properly installed
