What dvd player will play mp4 files?

I'm not a techie. I download my entertainment from Bittorent as most shows I watch are unavailable where i live currently. All of a sudden avi format is unavailable and the downloads come as HDTV x264 - LOL MP4 and will not play on my pc or on my dvd player. I don't know how to convert, burn etc. I'd just like to know which dvd player I can buy which will play said files on my television. Would appreciate the assistance.

i found that changing the name of the .mp4 to .avi works fine. i have encountered no problems yet.

I presume he means change the extension (the bit after the 'dot') from .mp4 to .avi on the computer before copying to a key to play on the dvd player. Doubt it will work, I'll give it a try though.
