What is my computer worth now?

Hello,
Someone wants to give me a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop in exchange for some money that they owe me. They said they bought it two years ago for about $400. What do you think it is worth now?

The above estimate seems close, but this should still vary based on the original specs. Have they provided you with a detailed spec sheet?

Also, are you getting the licenses for any software that came with it? (Windows and Office in particular).


Using ebay for reference, it seems to sell for between $180 and $220ish

A computer loses about 33% of its value per year compounded, so a $400 computer after two years would be worth providing it is in good condition and everything is functional about $180.
