I have had a Fortec Lifetime receiver for the past couple of years. It
appears to be developing a problem and I have begun to give some thought
to purchasing a replacement for it.
This receiver has a couple of bad points that I have learned to live
with. There are momentary dropouts of the AC3 audio on the PBS channels
on AMC3. It is annoying but it seldom lasts for more than 1 or 2 seconds
so I rarely miss anything important. Sometimes it will go for hours with
no dropouts. The other bad point is that the remote control only allows
about half a second between key depressions. If you are not very quick on
the trigger it will jump to the wrong channel.
Here lately it has begun to power off and on when I am using the remote
control. I replaced the batteries in the remote but it still happens.
I think I would like to try a different brand of receiver when I replace
it. I am a great fan of PBS programming so I absolutely require a
receiver with AC3 audio capabilities.
Any suggestions .... anybody ??
