I am trying to use the square app to process credit cards for my job. I dont have allot of money. The Square app only works with a few devices with wifi and OS. Should i get an ipod touch with iOS 4.0 or up? The app also works on Google Android devices running 2.1 and up. Is a cheap ipod touch the way to go? What generation or model would I look for?

Thanks. Im kinda a noob.

iPod touch and most usable Android devices are about the same price.
Archos has a good selection of Android tablets, some on about the iPod size, some larger.

Model would be whatever one the application will run on, if it needs a current version of the operating system, you may be stuck with getting a new version of the device.

the nice thing about android is that there are tons of aftermarket roms available. you could for instance buy an older phone like a droid incredible which comes with 2.1 android and be running android 2.3 on it with an aftermarket rom. pretty soon a few aftermarket roms will be running 4.0 on the device. the nice thing about doing this is that you can get older phones for dirt cheap.
