Hi,I'm about to buy a gaming laptop, and I set my eyes on 2 laptops. One's GPU is GTX 770M, the other's GPU is GTX 870M. I already read the article about the comparison specs between 770M and 870M,and I find that all the specs of 870m is superior than the other on.But I don't know anything about computer stuff,I just do my own research about it.So,the question i wanna ask is about gaming performance between them. The game i may play like:Simcity5,Total War:Rome 2,BF4 and so on.These are the 2 laptops i'm talking about.
1/.(MSI)GT70 2PC-1266CN
-Intel Core i7-4800M (2.7 GHz to 3.7 GHz, 6 MB Cache)
-16GB 1600MHZ DDR3
-1 TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive+128GB SSD
-17.3-Inch Screen, NVIDIA Geforce GTX870M-GDDR5 6GB
Total:2,080$
2/.(msi)GT60 2OC-012CN
-Intel Core i7-4800M (2.7 GHz to 3.7GHz, 6 MB Cache)
-16GB 1600MHZ DDR3
-750 GB 7200rmp Hard Drive+128GB SSD
-15.6-Inch,NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770M
Total:1,774$.
Well,Does the GTX 870M give the better performance in gaming than the GTX 770M,or just the same?
Thanks in advance for sparing time to answer question and enlighten my knowledge.:)

According to benchmarks the 870M is superior in performance, but uses 25 more watts so a laptop with a 870M won't last as long as it would with a 770M. But according to this benchmark the upgrade to an 870M meant a 23FPS gain in Bioshock Infinite: http:// I just bought a MSI GT60 Dominator-424 with a 870M and although I've only had it a day and tested one game it seemed to do pretty well. I played Metro 2033 on very high settings with the AA turned down a bit and was getting about 30-60FPS. For that laptop general use like web-browsing with medium brightness gets about 4hrs, it can be stretched to around 5 maybe 6, to give you an idea of what your battery life might look like my laptop uses a 9 cell battery, but I also have a different CPU.

Oh yeah,I know Asus G750js.Actually,G750js was my first choice. But Since I'm studying abroad in China,Asus laptop's price is too steep here. The G750js is around 1,800$,but it costs 3,000$ up in here:(.So,my only choice is go for the MSI product, cause its price is still reasonable, even though I don't really love it(I find that MSI generates lots of heat while running,I hate it).
After all, thanks for answer my question, perhaps i'd go with the GTX 870M.

Depends on your use, testing yesterday when I set it to power-saving, no backlight and low brightness, the battery indicator said it would last 7 hrs, which for me is fine since I only plan to use it in college and don't need a ton of battery life, but that's still pretty good for a gaming laptop

Hey i am thinking about purchasing the gt60 dominator 424 and was wondering if the fan generates a lot of noise and when maxing out games is the heat very noticeable and do you get sweaty hand syndrome when using it. Thank You!

Hi, I bought my Dominator 424 almost 2 months ago, it is a great laptop. Now fan noise was one of my biggest worries with this laptop as it only has one. When you aren't gaming it is silent. I was worried about the fan being loud in college but it's silent. Now while gaming it does and doesn't get loud (I'll explain). I used this laptop in high school after my exams where the room was dead silent. Using power saver mode, and high settings it stayed silent and below about 75 degrees celcius on Dead Space. BF3 on low settings ramped the fan up so I couldn't play it unless people were talking, otherwise it was pretty noticeable, but remember dead silent. So if you aren't gaming it's silent, and has really good battery life. But fan noise and temps are both a problem, but on this laptop you get to choose high temps or a loud fan. Because the normal fan curve doesn't work very well in my opinion, it will ramp up very late, and won't ever go near full speed. This lead's temps to hit 85 degrees celcius in games like BF3, BF4, War Thunder etc (They will continue to climb, I just activated the turbo cooling). Now there is the turbo cooling button which turns the fan to max rpm and with that my temps have never reached about 78-80 it will lower them by about 10 degrees, but sounds like a turbine. I really wish you could adjust the fan curve using MSI Afterburner or some other program but it doesn't work, because then I would change it, because most games it doesn't need to be on full cooling, just a little bit more then what it does automatically. If you have any more qquestions, or if I didn't answer part of your question let me know I'll be glad to answer any more you have. The runner up to this laptop for me was the Sager NP 8268S. Here is a video I just shot of me clicking the turbo fan button, to show you the loudest it will ever get (It's still uploading) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W55vHGQ165w&feature=youtu.be

Thanks man for helping me, I also commented and liked your video. What would you rate this laptop? What are the temps/fan noise playing bf4 on ultra?
