I have heard that Rio makes (or made) a device which attaches to a
home network, finds media files, and plays them on your tv. Culd
someone please tell me what this unit is called?

There's a DVD player I just ordered off the eBay that has a feature
like this. It's the GoVideo 2730. Haven't gotten it yet, don't know
how well it works. You install a server program on a PC, plug this
player into your network, then it'll let you play MP3s and MPEGs from
the PC on your TV.

Thanks Mark and Ben. Those products are exactly what I'm looking for.
