An AppleTV is meant to he hooked up to your big TV, not to your laptop, else explain yourself more fully.

Apple TV2 only has HDMI out and there is no way to connect an HDCP HDMI output to a laptop to use the laptop screen for display. You need a TV or a monitor with HDCP HDMI input.
