Dear community,
I'm having a hard time deciding between two laptops with in my opinion comparable specs, and they cost the same, so I was wondering if you could shine your light on this decision for me. I am going to use the laptop for multimedia work (no heavy photoshop) and some gaming (no heavy performance games)

Lenovo Ideapad G500-00742
8GB Ram
Intel i7-3612QM
Nvidia GeForce GT720M
1000GB HDD

Asus R505CB
8GB RAM
Intel i7-3537U
Nvidia Geforce GT740M
500GB HDD

As for my own comparison, I'm seeing that the Lenovo specs are slightly better, only difference being that the Asus has a better graphics card.

Who can help me decide?
Kind regards,
Stefan

Yes, the Quad core CPU of Lenovo is quite better than the dual core underclocked CPU of ASUS.
However, GT720M is a weak GPU. But, since you won't be playing heavy games, you will be fine. You can run some modern games at low/medium.

Check this out, to get an idea of the framerates you can expect in some games:
