I haven't tried safari on my pentium 3 733m. Chrome does this well like Opera. Both Chrome and Opera are light weight browse that can nicely use in my very old Pentium 3 in portege 2000 :). Ie 8 is out of question. Firefox 3 (with some addon) is in the middle of it. I hope safari 4 can be lighter than Chrome and Opera :D.

Safair does give you a preview link in the bottom left hand corner and has ever since version 2. All you have to do is choose "Show Status Bar" under the view options. It's quite easy and works just like in Firefox.

The commercials all say that macs dont get viruses, so if I use this mac browser, I can go to all the warez and porn sites without worrying about viruses, right?

I've finally succumbed to peer pressure - I installed it tonight. While the browser keeps reminding me that it's an Apple product, I can live with it for trial purposes.

Yes, it's fast. Sometimes waaay faster than IE, sometimes IE8 is on par. I don't know how it does that, but hey, as long as they're both fast.

My biggest gripe is the "close tab" x being on the left side which is naturally unintuitive for Windows users. That, and the lack of refresh/stop button in the bar. You can't even drop it in - seems like Apple engineers went for the minimal look. But there's enough room in the bar to allow two buttons. I wish they'll add those.

I doubt I'll download the final version, but hey, who knows. Turn down on the Apple advertisement and it would be good for me.

One thing I dislike after I tried is the safari and chrome is 99% almost same. The only thing that 99% different is the icon :)). Can they get example from IE and many other browser IE based (like maxthon)? Those browser is completely difference even its based on same engine. Safari and Chrome?

Web browsers will eventually all look the same. One comes out with a new feature, and if it's good, all the other browsers will have to add it as well to compete. Of course that browser will have some feature the first browser will add, and so on until all browsers share the same features.

I like Opera, and it already has most of these features. I know I know, Opera is proprietary while FireFox and Chrome are open-source (as is Webkit which Safari is built on), but I still like it.

As for all the addon crap, why does a web-browser have a console? And are we really so lazy we need addons for our webbrowser that make it easier to get web content? I mean, if you're using the damn webbrowser, can't you just go to the Twitter webpage? Do you really need a plugin to show you twitter content, FROM YOUR WEB BROWSER?

^^ +1
Just what i wanted to say. Along with the fact that opera seems to come up with most of the good features that everybody implements later. It always seems to be a step ahead.. the startup screen that shows the favorite webpages, but in my opinion the most practical thing is the "duplicate tab" function.. duplicates a tab along with the whole history, so when you find a good website you want to get back to, just duplicate a tab and continue surfing on the new one and you can click the "back" button if needed.. to go back to google say. im not switching to a browser that doesnt have this.. (does safari have it? i havent checked)

all in all this Safari 4 is still beta and imo needs to get some kinks worked out. The review is pretty much spot on with both positive and negative. It's really honest. Now I do like the tabs on top because I take the minimalist approach to my web browsing and browse with no address bar, bookmarks, and only window or tab window. This creates a very small near borderless browsing that doesn't clutter my other screens. The cover flow of bookmarks and history is nice, but slow. the Top sites feature is nice, but slow and it really doesn't cover much of my top sites despite having them in the bookmarks bar.... I still love the Safari RSS reader above everything.

OH well, it's going next to my Opera and Firefox icon

Just like apple. Keeps simple things simple, but once you want to do something different things are much harder than they should be.
