I am looking for a laptop that can run games like skyrim with little to no mods, but i dont want to break the bank. My budget is around 600 to 700 dollars, but the absolute maximum i can spend is around 800.

The only things i will use it for is for skyrim level games and some schoolwork here and there. I dont need anything too extravagant: dont need super high definition graphics, giant screen, etc.
All i want is something that allows me to play decent quality games without lagging or freezing when on normal defintion graphics. Thanks for helping me out.

Buydig is selling a refurb Asus 15.6" laptop via ebay for $579:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/311307579881

It's got a 1080p IPS screen and a 2GB nVidia 745m.

The 745m seems to benchmark about the same or slightly better than the 840m. The CPU on this one is a dual core i7, vs the quad core on the N56JN psycrow395 suggested. So the dual core will get better battery life, the quad core will deliver more performance. Both are 1080p, though I can't tell if the N56JN's is IPS. (An IPS panel will not color shift as you change viewing angles.)

You may be able to find an older laptop with a 750m in your price range. The 750m is slightly faster than the 840m. (It and the 745m have a 128-bit memory bus, vs 64-bit for the 840m. Really, I don't...

Really, I don't know why they crippled the 840m with a 64-bit bus when it's capable of so much more with decent memory speeds.) The 750m was used on a lot of mass-market (non-gaming) laptops like the HP Envy, so there are a lot of them out there probably in clearance sections.

Go to qvc. It has flex pay. You can get Asus rog 751 for like 300 a month for 5-6 months. And that thing has killer specs. I'm talking top of the line. Just go on qvc, and look,at there computer you may find something you like.
