Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor 1.6 GHz ,4 GB DDR3,640 GB SATA ,
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics with 1 GB dedicated
now i am getting too much confussion of which to go for either for an i5 450 with the above config or go with i7 itself ...i am moderate gammer as well as an mechanical software user ...and with usual entertainment of movies and brousing net...
now that i made my mind to a laptop ...which should i go for i7 or i5............please help me fast

Solution
If you can afford it, I'd just go with the i7. You'll be getting the use of more cores, which will come in handy with your mechanical software (CAD, I assume?) and general all around system quickness. Have a look at the CPU link in my sig to get a general idea of what to expect comparison wise between the two.

Solution
The i5 will be a bit better in regard to both better battery life and heat production, but the differences will be pretty marginal when it comes down to it.

Have you considered the new Sandy-Bridge designed laptop processors? They are supposed to be more energy-efficient. Also, what is your budget?
