Hi,

I have a choice of the following and need your professional advice:

Sony R550, 70" LED
Samsung UA65F6400, 65" LED
Samsung PS64F8500, 64" plasma

I use my TV most of the time for cable viewing with the occasional DVD movies.

The sony is appealing because of its 70" size. Till now i am reading lots of reviews on the advantages of LED vs plasma but i am getting more confused!

Thank you for your help.

LED is more efficient and runs cooler. Plasma has a better picture and lasts longer. IMO of course. If you go plasma I recommend Panasonic.

plasma televisions are real energy hogs. led backlit lcd televisions are very energy efficient.

i'm not so sure about plasma lasting longer as they had a very bad history to them.

one definite advantage plasma has is better static contrast although if you went with a led tv with one of the "grid arrays" of leds they are not too far off.

i'd say go with a led lcdtv. personally i like sony but samsung is also a good brand.

read reviews on the particular units you are looking at.
