Which is the better PC Headset?

Asus Strix DSP
or
Asus Strix 7.1

I know the dsp is a single driver with compatibility for consoles which I do own a ps4, but don't intend to use the headsets for.

So which is better for PC by performance. DSP has Dolby Digital and Pro Logic 2 with a single 60mm driver with simulated 7.1. While the 7.1 does not have Dolby digital or Pro Logic(at least listed from specs and other review), because is multi-drive driven.

So its either a 150$ set,DSP or the 250$ set, 7.1.

if you're looking for the best solution i'd say neither. pick up a soundcard like a xonar dg for dolby headphone and get a hifi pair of headphones and separate mic. for your budget you could certainly get into some decent equipment. considering most headsets are all virtual surround you would get the same effect with better sound quality.

if you had to pick only between the listed headsets, i'd get the cheaper one. larger drivers generally would offer better sound quality over more cheaper smaller drivers and that virtual surround is likely good enough. $250 is also a bit too much to spend on any non-hifi gear (in my opinion)

I already have a X-Fi Fatality Pro Sound Card, in which my Logitech speakers are currently using. My G930's recently broke at the hinges so I'm looking for the same sound quality or better that isn't above 250$. I've checked out just about every review I could find about both the 7.1 and DSP, and they all state that the sound quality(on both) is excellent, even with the 7.1's "smaller speakers" they are not all flooded with the same sound but are separated channels vs. the DSP's Single 60mm driver driving all sounds.

But, thank you for the feedback. I wasn't objecting to the idea of head phones separate mic idea.

if you have the soundcard i think you do, it should have cmss3d virtual surround processing. this means any stereo headphones can be used in virtual surround.

given your budget, you might be interested in going with something along the lines of the hd598 + modmic. neutral sound signature, decent soundstage. not stellar bass, but not zero either. doesnt need an amp. the modmic is the best low cost solution for adding a mic to any headphones.

Umm, I remember Linus TechTips going over the modmic, I think the Ant-lion, and it was really neat concept with the magnetic holder. Just an thought using the Strix DSP as an example. The mic for those, you can take plug in and out like the A40. Lets say I get the Strix DSP, could I "technically" Plug the Ant-Lion Mod Mic into the Strix DSP while retaining its sound quality? I assume it would still work and I could do the same to say the Ear Force Z Seven or the Astro A40 since they are jack mics.

I'm not "fully" restricted to the Strix series, which I should have mentioned, but I've been leaning to them primarily for the Amp mixer and sound Quality. I recently bought the G430 Logitech(the blue ones) and the bass was just like my previous G930, but the mids and highs were very muddy so I took them back. Hence the reason I'm looking for the same Bass, clear mid and highs, because I wont be able to stand anything lesser as it'll bug the hell out of me. Also need at least 5.1 for my gaming and game development.

Maybe the Sennheiser RS175 with the ModMic is the best choice, thoughts on that?

Would a Sennheiser HD 598 + Astro Mixamp Pro + ModMic be the best route to achieve my wants for great sound with good base and surround sound?
