Which one is better

Hello,

I would like to know which laptop is better for gaming. I don't know if i'm posting this on the correct section, correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you sure? I've read somewhere that the AMD Radeon HD 7670M is better than the gt630M. I don't know if the amd A8 processor is better than the i5.

The CPU is not as good but the GPU is superior in the ASUS.

They are much the same and hence I would recommend buying the ASUS.

The i5 is a better CPU which will drag up the performance to be similar for games. But with the extra cost I do not think it is worth it.

The gt630m has 2gb memory while the Radeon HD 7670 has 1gb memory. Does that matter?

And will I be able to run games like Skyrim/GTA4 with the A8 processor.

Does not matter one little bit. At the resolutions you will be running 1GB is more than enough.

If you were to try to play @ 1080p with AA and AF then it would make a difference, but both these cards are too weak to do that...

as for GTA IV yes, the same >30 FPS on med-high.

You can google all of this easily. If you turn the details down a little you could get some nice smooth framerates.

The differences between the two options are not huge. I think the ASUS scores a win on price.

So, there's not so much difference between the A8 and the i5? Or would i get a higher FPS with i5

BUT, the better GPU in the ASUS makes up for that small difference (when talking ONLY about gaming).

It is the price that is the killer for me. For that price difference you can almost afford to buy a 240GB SSD and that would transform the ASUS into a much better machine.

I'm not only gonna use it for gaming, mostly i will use it for school and work with programs like Powerpoint, virtualbox etc. It could handle that, right?

Hi again,

An SSD is a solid state disk or "nand flash drive". It is WAY FASTER than a normal hard disk. Your computer boots in like less than 15secs or so, applications load near instantaneously.

I have one in my desktop and laptop.
