The biggest drawback/problem with the first one is the weak video card. 840m with a 64bit memory interface isn't very good. The second one has more drawbacks including the small hdd, small screen, and no OS. The first laptop simply has less wrong with it. Shame it's more expensive.

Overall difference is really small. They turbo to about the same speed, but the i7 can handle more threads and has more L3 cache I think. The big selling points for me on the first one was the 1080 screen and it comes with windows. Each unit has some serious drawbacks however.
