The only problem that i had was the stupid UAC that Vista onwards have. Man... i had to delete one file and it told me you dont have permission. I was like "@!@#$$%... What the hell?"!! :fou:

Agreed. The UAC in Vista was downright annoying, but it is not too bad on W7. Either way, I usually kill it on any new install of Windows or any computers I build or work on. It was well meaning, but it is annoying as sin.

Yes, I saw the same thing. Basically, a solid AV program/firewall is about as good as you're going to do. If you get something, hit it with malwarebytes. I am rather fond of malwarebytes- it's always taken care of anything I've thrown at it.

By far, the best OS i've ever used has been Windows 7. Absolutely rock solid, never got any viruses. Never had any real issues with it. I use it on my lappy (64bit Home premium).

The worst i've used was Windows ME. The first time that OS came out, I tried out a brand new computer (forgot the brand name) and on first boot up, came with massive errors, and was basically unusable. Search function was broken, programs wouldn't start correctly, and other oddball issues.

I use Windows XP on my office machine (XP will always be my favourite) along with XP on my home machine and OSX Leopard on my girlfriends Mac at her place.

Shall be swapping XP for Windows 7 tonight on my home machine as I've recently sorted out an Nvidia 3d Vision setup. I still prefer XP over all though! IMHO I find that performance and stability wise Windows 7 is simply a fancier version of XP.

You know, preference wise, I'd say win95 wasn't so bad either. As far as I remember from the time I was using it, it was pretty stable, did what you wanted it to do without many hassles. 98,ME,2000 and even XP was like a fancier looking version of the same old 95. Vista and win7 are kind of set aside because there microsoft actually started innovating with quick launch, aero previews etc. one major change that xp took people a while to adjust was the new style of the start menu.

:S
lets make a separate thread so we can document our hate towards W8 and MS.

Windows 8 is starting to look a little too much like it has too much of a "Smartphone" interface. In the case of the GUI - they need to bring back the standard desktop....the tried and true formula.

Edit: Let the Windows 8 lynching begin! 😛

If you watch the videos, you'll see that the old desktop is still there, and it looks exactly like Windows 7.

I'm not lynching anything until I've tried it.

Currently I have two machines running windows 7 (one ultimate and one home premium both 64 bit). I used to have dual boot set up on an old laptop with windows vista/ubuntu. I did this only because vista was so slow on the old hardware.
