Have you tried getting the DOS and Win98 stuff working in Windows 7?

No not yet even having struggle with some old DOS stuff in XP which is the main reason I reassembled a 98 system.

Have you considered using DOSBox?

ooooh, why the tude.?
I'm seriously asking to name somethings, trying to learn.
if it's just a matter of choice then say so.
don't act like it's all scientific and crap..

I back up my store bought Copyrighted DVDs, WinXP does this, and has done it, no problems what so ever for years with the present software I've already bought installed on it, no workarounds, no fixes etc.

not from that, no..

I always hated windows with a passion(except ironically 3.11), only used it at school or work till XP when I bought my first gaming rig, hated that with a passion but needed it for games. Grew up with a commodore 64 and upgraded to Amiga, always thought macs where for hippies and posers. Had a big go at Linux when vista was released, it was blinding quick compared to XP. Only problem I had with Linux was gaming, which most of my call of duty games worked under wine, but newer games had me licked. Got a version of Win 7, got to say not a bad system at all, but on a Pentium 4 Linux was hell quick, so dual booted with win 7 just for gaming. Installed win 8 on that old P4 and it was quicker then Linux unless I used a light desktop environment, so been using that for 3 months. Just built a new AMD bulldozer, first installed win 7 but the P4 was quicker on win 8, so changed the bulldozer to win 8 and I won't go back now. Saying that I hut downloaded the latest 64 bit Xubuntu to try on it so I can use steam, and all the apps I prefer, like Brasero, Banshee (I know its on windows but it crashes every few minutes) and Arista for converting movies and Sound Converter for audio files. Plus my favorite, Transmission bit torrent client, I have it on windows but with Qt compared to GTK for rendering a few options are missing like simply copying the hash link to paste into Google to find more trackers

Edit, i typed built instead of but
