Why are these new laptops so expensive?

960m laptops are priced around $1200 - $1500 range but the new 1060 laptops are going for $1800 - $2000. I understand the 1060 is far better but I thought the idea was for VR to be more affordable? Are M series laptops still worth a pickup based on price? Will new laptop prices go down? Would love to hear opinions

The answer to your first questions - capitalism.

VR is becoming more affordable - in desktops. Laptops will always be behind this curve. New laptop prices will go down when they aren't new anymore.

Are you talking about US currency? There are quite a few 960m laptops with good CPUs for $800. For 1200-1500 you are looking at 970m, maybe even 980m for a sale model. Unless you are talking about pricing in other areas.

I was actually a bit surprised also about how much the new 1060 laptops are priced over the 960m ones, but considering they are in the class of a 970 much more than the 960 and just came out this week, it's not too odd.

960m is still OK for medium quality gaming, maybe low for really smooth frames.
