Why can't I render videos into HD

On sony vegas pro 14 I try to render my videos into 1080p 30fps but it always comes out looking really off and not at all at 30fps or hd. Why do i do?

What format (container) is the source file in (.mts, .avi, .mov, etc.)? What render settings are you using? Was the source file shot in HD at 30fps?
