Both Apple and Microsoft only update their browswers with a new OS.Safari and IE are actually good when they first come out but after a few months or so other browsers seem to outperform or/and be more compatible with the latest technologies(like HTML5).Some of you may say that they do but these are usually small updates to fix problems or improve security but not performance or compatability. The reason I came up with this question is because safari and IE may often not work with some pages that use newer technologies or perform worse in comparison with other browsers in specific pages(in comparison with other browsers like Firefox,Chrome,Opera etc)

I don't know nothing about Apple, but that is not true for Microsoft.
Windows XP was released with IE 4, and after 13 or so years (retiring today), current version is 8. True, it took Microsoft many years to move from IE 6, but they finally did it (in the wake of Firefox popularity).
Windows 7 was released with IE 8, and current version is 11.

Ok then but why dont they update their products to be more compatible, both companies have a lot of money they could spend to improve their browsers

Manolis - if you don't like eating free pizza, don't eat it, and don't complain. If you like using a particular browser with some bells and whistles, use it, and don't teach companies how to do their business.
