Why does my sb-800 flash go off three times before it flashes

I have a new d-7000 Nikon,and when I put my sb-800 flash on the camera,when I push on my shutter,it makes the flash, flash three times,before the flash goes off.Whats wrong;

It is nice one
I look through the manual, and you have to use either Non-TTL auto flash mode or Manual mode to to get rid of them.
