Why dose my phenom ii x4 unlock to an x4?

Hello,lately i have been getting an error message when starting my cmop saying cpu is not supported by this motherboard i have a am3 board and a am3 cpu and when i unlock it to "x4" i dont get this message anymore? is my cpu not seated right should i worry about it? help please

yes it dose aside from the error msg it boots fine and runs BF3 perfect

sorry yes when i unlock i do not get an error msg but when its not i get it. but my pc runs fine when its not unlocked im just not sure if somthing is wrong or what is going on

upddate your motherboard BIOS.
