Is it possible that Epic knows something that forum commentators do not? Is it possible they know more about their area of expertise than forum diletantes?

Nah. Being able to script-kiddie a jailbreak on Android or iOS means you know other people's business better than they do.

"it's got to be a consistent experience"
This is obviously why all the games developers shun game development for the PC and write only for the Macintosh platform...
Hey. Wait a minute!

More or less, smartphones like Apple Iphones and Ipods are like PC nowadays...they are fast developing and evolving!

Last time they were like worms compared to consoles, but now look at what LG X2 smartphone is offering....a HDMI connector cable!?! what the!....you can play games directly to your smartphone and they already have dual-core processors, GPUs and RAMs in them!

Then how about consoles, how are the consoles evolving?

I fail to see why so many people have a problem with the way Apple handles IOS. Ever heard of Windows? How about Chrome OS, Google is keeping tight control over that. The more fragmented the operating system gets the harder it is to program for. Of course software (and especially game manufacturers) want a consistent experience for the customer, that is what drives sales. Makes it easier to troubleshoot user problems too, should they have any. Ever heard of "Windows Mobile" it sucked for the same reason, no consistent user experience, it was too fragmented from one company to the next. Google could learn from Microsofts mistakes on that one. Seems Microsoft did and that's why they are much more controlling for WP7 now.

Can't believe I really need to post this a 3rd time.

I just spoke to Mark Rein. The problem isn't the varied hardware but the 50 MB size limit for apps. Google plans to loosen that restriction and Epic will port Infinity Blade over at that time.

Google hasn't announced exactly when they'll do that so Epic can't make any solid plans yet on the Android port.

[citation][nom]joytech22[/nom]I blame Samsung because I can.Mostly because us Galaxy S owners have had samsung over-allocate RAM to absolutely nothing, my other devices seem to be able to use 300MB (they have 512MB of ram too and 300mb free to run programs on) unlike my Galaxy S which has 100MB available and can't do much with, my friends Desire HD can still use up to 500MB of their ram to run apps..Another point is that I would welcome a limit to the least amount of power a Android device can provide, I have a Android tablet with a 300MHz CPU and it can't run anything.[/citation]
I believe there is a custom ROM that enables the RAM, gotta love droid 😉

No bottom line is epic knows that without GoW to help pay for their diamond encrusted pool they'll have to start actually working again ad making their gaming engines not be some buggy piece of shit that needs 3 $450 uds vid cards and paired with some omg overclocked processor to sort through all their engine code mistakes.

Epic get off your ass. And maybe ill consider playing one of your games again. Played the bulletstorm demo, muted it 30 seconds in (made the game 2x better without thenpc bantering) , completed the demo 5 min later, uninstalled the demo. Not gonna buy it. I want ut4. And I don't it being super dark and gritty like 3, had to up the gamma so much it washed everything out so it was like playing with a polished turd.

As for ios getting mobile gaming meh. Don't use my phone to play games. I use it to troll toms hardware. Its much more fun than angry burds

[citation][nom]mobrocket[/nom]Epic actually likes Apple's model of introducing new, faster hardware every year- Unlike android which does it every few months. Oh mercy me, them there computers in them android just too advance for us at Epic...[/citation]
They were contrasting with major console releases, in this section of the article. Not Android. They didn't say Android hardware refreshes were holding them back at any point. But Android covers a very wide range of hardware AND software targets, and its kind of a mess for developings demanding games with heavy graphics.

For casual games, its not a big deal. Angry Birds or Stupid Zombies doesn't require a lot of horsepower, so its easier to get those running on a wide range of hardware. Personally I think that the phones should identify their hardware to the Android marketplace, so that they can check and see if you meet the mininum system requirements. Maybe let you force the download even if you're below them, if you want, but give you a warning.

Epic seems to be concentrating its mobile gaming efforts on the iOS, and there's a reason why Android is getting left out in the cold.

"When a consumer gets the phone and they wanna play a game that uses our technology, it's got to be a consistent experience, and we can't guarantee that [on Android]. That's what held us off of Android," Tim Sweeney said. "Google needs to be a little more evil. They need to be far more controlling."

I totally agree Imagine if Intel and AMD were like Google where would we be right now with our PCs and NoteBooks... But there might be hope for Google yet with the New Tegra Technology on it's way!
