why is toshiba c55-a5105 ssaying No Bootable Device

I have a Toshiba satellite C55-A5105 that says No Bootable Device - Please Restart System. Windows 8.1. BIOS 1.10 that I cannot update to 1.30. Help! TIP: I even tried refreshing bios and EVEN tried EVERY CONFIGURATION. HELP on question 1

No Bootable Device: check that the hard drive hasn't become loose in it's bay.

If that is not the problem, the hard drive may have failed or Windows just needs re-installing.

And why do you want to update the BIOS?
