I bought a Lenmar replacement battery that is supposed to work my Dell XPS M1530. No matter what steps I take, the message "plugged in, not charging" appears and no charging of the replacement battery occurs. What can I do to get the computer to charge the nonDell battery?

Hi :)

Dells are DESIGNED to give that message with a NON genuine charger... sells a LOT of chargers lol...

Oh and it HAS to be the CORRECT DELL charger or you get ANOTHER NAG message...

All the best Brett :)

I have the same problem with a non Dell battery and this is what I do.

Start the laptop without the charging cable plugged in so just on battery power. (this assumes your battery has enough charge to start the laptop, they usually do when you buy them) once the system comes up and is running you should be able to plug in the charger and it will charge the battery. Not sure if this will work with a non-original dell charger as they had a special pin configuration.

Make sure the charger has the same power specifications (same output voltage, at least as much output current) as the stock Dell charger. Even then, it might not work.
